VOL ABOARD!

PRE-ORIENTATION PLANNING WEBSITE

Welcome to VOL Aboard, your pre-Orientation planning website. At orientation you will receive a great deal of information that will be crucial for you to be academically successful. This website has been designed to help you better prepare for and understand the information you will be receiving at orientation with a goal of assisting in the development of your ability to make well-informed decisions regarding your undergraduate academic career.

If you haven’t already confirmed your enrollment and registered for Orientation, please take some time to do so now, before you begin reviewing the material for pre-Orientation.

After completing those crucial first two steps, please read the Light the Torch and Computing@UT sections. Successfully setting up your NetID and password will enable you to proceed to the next steps: confirming housing, taking the online language placement examination, and completing a bit of “homework.”

To check your housing status, please visit UT Housing’s Student Status site.

We’ve devoted an entire page of this site to language placement exams.

Be sure to complete your pre-Orientation homework before Orientation. It won’t take much time, and it will prepare you for your initial advising session. In Step 1 of the homework, you’ll be asked to download and print an Orientation Advising Worksheet. Don’t forget to do that—it’s important!

If at any point during this process, you encounter unfamiliar terms or confusing jargon, please check out our VOLcabulary.
